With God, All Things Are Possible
Matthew 19:26
Key Scripture:
“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” - Matthew 19:26
Introduction:
There are moments in life when we face situations that seem impossible—problems beyond our control, prayers that seem unanswered, and challenges that feel overwhelming. In Matthew 19:26, Jesus reminds us that what is impossible for us is possible with God.
This statement comes after Jesus’ conversation with the rich young ruler. The disciples were astonished when Jesus said it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. They wondered, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus’ response points them—and us—to a powerful truth: God can do what we cannot.
Today, we will explore:
- The Limits of Human Ability
- The Unlimited Power of God
- How to Live with Faith in the God of the Impossible
1. The Limits of Human Ability
Jesus says, “With man this is impossible.” As humans, we often rely on:
- Our own strength - We try to solve problems with logic and effort.
- Our own wealth or resources - Like the rich young ruler, people sometimes trust in material things instead of God.
- Our own righteousness - Many believe they can earn salvation through good deeds, but salvation is only through grace.
No matter how much effort we put in, there are things we simply cannot do. We cannot save ourselves, heal every sickness, or control every situation. But when we reach our limits, God’s power begins.
2. The Unlimited Power of God
Jesus follows with, “But with God all things are possible.” This means:
- God can save anyone - No one is beyond God’s grace, no matter their past.
- God can provide in impossible situations - When we lack resources, He is our provider (Philippians 4:19).
- God can heal and restore - He is the great physician, able to heal the broken (Jeremiah 30:17).
- God can make a way where there is no way - Just as He parted the Red Sea, He can make a way for us (Exodus 14:21).
Application: What situation in your life seems impossible? Trust in God’s power rather than your own strength.
3. How to Live with Faith in the God of the Impossible
- Pray with confidence - Believe that God is able (Ephesians 3:20).
- Surrender your struggles - Let go of trying to fix everything on your own.
- Walk in obedience - Trusting God means following His ways, even when we don’t see the outcome yet.
Conclusion:
Jesus teaches us that human effort has limits, but God’s power has no limits. Whether it’s salvation, provision, healing, or guidance, nothing is too hard for God.
Reflection Questions:
- What impossible situation do you need to trust God for?
- Are you relying on your own strength, or are you fully depending on God?
- How can you live with faith in the God of the impossible this week?
Closing Prayer:
Lord, we thank You that nothing is impossible for You. Help us to trust in Your power instead of our own abilities. Strengthen our faith and remind us that You can do what we cannot. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
