Trusting God’s Plan

Scripture: Romans 8:28

Introduction:

Life is full of challenges, disappointments, and unexpected hardships. In difficult times, we often wonder if God is truly at work in our lives. But Romans 8:28 gives us a powerful promise: God is always working for our good, even when we don’t see it.

Romans 8:28 says: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

This verse teaches us three important truths:

1. God’s Sovereignty in All Things
2. God’s Goodness Toward His People
3. God’s Purpose in Our Lives

1. God’s Sovereignty in All Things

• Paul begins by saying, “And we know that in all things God works…”
• This means that nothing in our lives happens by accident.
• God is in control, even in difficult or painful situations.
• He is always at work, orchestrating events for His divine purpose.

Application:

• Trust God even when life doesn’t make sense—He is always in control.
• Instead of focusing on the problem, focus on God’s ability to bring good out of it.

2. God’s Goodness Toward His People

• Paul makes it clear that this promise is for “those who love Him.”
• This does not mean everything in life will be easy, but it does mean that God is always working for our ultimate good.
• Even trials and hardships are used by God to strengthen our faith and draw us closer to Him.

Application:

• Even in trials, God’s love never fails—He is working for your good.
• When facing difficulties, ask, “What is God teaching me through this?”

3. God’s Purpose in Our Lives

• The verse ends by reminding us that God works for the good of “those who have been called according to His purpose.”
• This means that everything God does in our lives is part of a greater plan—His purpose for us.
• Sometimes, what we think is good for us is not what God knows is best.

Application:

• Seek God’s will, knowing that His plan is always better than ours.
• Be patient—God’s timing is perfect, even when we don’t understand.

Conclusion:

Romans 8:28 is a promise that God is working all things for the good of those who love Him. No matter what you are going through, trust that God is in control, He is good, and He has a purpose for your life.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise that You work all things together for our good. Help us to trust You in difficult times and to remember that Your plans are always greater than ours. Strengthen our faith and guide us according to Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
