The Blood of Jesus

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

Introduction:
Throughout history, blood has always been a sign of life, sacrifice, and covenant.
From the garden of Eden to the cross of Calvary, the story of humanity’s redemption has been written in blood — not our blood, but His blood.
Today, we are going to talk about the blood — not just any blood, but the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Point 1: The Blood Purifies
Blood in our bodies carries waste away from cells and brings oxygen to them. In the same way, the blood of Jesus purifies our hearts.
Sin leaves a stain — a stain you and I could never wash out on our own.
Isaiah 1:18 says, “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
How? By the blood!
When you feel guilty, when shame tries to chain you down, remember: the blood has already done the cleansing work.
You are not who you were — you are who Jesus says you are!

Point 2: The Blood Protects
In Exodus 12, the Israelites smeared the blood of a lamb on their doorposts during Passover. When judgment came through the land, every house covered by blood was safe.
Today, we’re not putting lamb’s blood on our doors — the Lamb of God has placed His blood over our lives.
When trials come, when the enemy prowls, when life feels dangerous — the blood covers you.
It doesn’t mean you won’t face battles, but it does mean the victory is already yours because of the blood.

Point 3: The Blood Pays the Price
Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death…” — someone had to pay.
But instead of handing us the bill, Jesus took it Himself.
When He said on the cross, “It is finished,” it wasn’t just a nice phrase — it was a debt paid in full.
The blood doesn’t say, “You owe me.”
The blood says, “It’s already done.”
You don’t work for your salvation, you receive it by faith in what the blood has already purchased.

Point 4: The Blood Provides Power
There’s wonder-working power in the blood!
Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
The blood gives you authority to walk in freedom.
The blood gives you strength to resist the enemy.
The blood gives you power to live a victorious life.
You’re not fighting for victory — you’re fighting from victory, because of the blood!

The blood of Jesus is not just a historical event — it’s a present reality.
It purifies, protects, pays the price, and provides power.
Thank God for the blood!
The old hymn says it best:
“Oh, the blood of Jesus, it washes white as snow.”
Today, trust the blood. Stand under the blood. Walk boldly because of the blood.
