Plead the Blood: The Power That Covers It All

Revelation 12:11

Key Scripture: Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”

Introduction

Have you ever heard someone say, “I plead the blood of Jesus”? Maybe in prayer, in spiritual warfare, or during a time of crisis. That phrase might sound old-fashioned, even dramatic—but it carries tremendous truth and power.

To “plead the blood” is not begging. It’s declaring what the blood of Jesus has already accomplished. It’s standing in faith on the finished work of Christ.

So today, we’re going to explore what it means to plead the blood, and how it applies to your life in three vital ways: protection, redemption, and victory.

Point 1: The Blood Protects

Exodus 12:13 (NIV)

“The blood will be a sign for you… and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.”

In the first Passover, the Israelites painted lamb’s blood on their doorposts. When judgment came over Egypt, the blood marked their homes for protection.

That lamb was a shadow—Jesus is the fulfillment.

When we plead the blood of Jesus, we’re placing our trust in the ultimate Passover Lamb. We’re saying,
“Lord, cover my family, my mind, my home, my future.”

You don’t have to fear what’s coming when you know who’s covering you.

Point 2: The Blood Redeems

Ephesians 1:7 (NIV)

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins…”

You are not saved by your works, your church attendance, or your performance. You are saved because Jesus shed His blood.

To plead the blood is to remind the enemy—and sometimes yourself—
“I am not guilty. I am not condemned. I am bought and paid for.”

The blood doesn’t just cover sin—it cancels its power.

When Satan whispers, “Look at your past,” you answer, “I plead the blood.”
When guilt creeps in, you don’t argue—you plead the blood.

Point 3: The Blood Gives Us Victory

Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”

The blood isn’t just for salvation—it’s for spiritual warfare.

You can plead the blood over:

  • A child running from God
  • A marriage in crisis
  • A body battling sickness
  • A mind under attack

This is not superstition—it’s spiritual authority.
The blood of Jesus defeated sin, death, and the grave.
When you plead the blood, you are aligning your faith with heaven’s victory.

Conclusion: Plead It Boldly

Pleading the blood is like stepping into a courtroom where the enemy accuses you—and your defense is already in place:

“Yes, I was guilty. But the price has been paid. The blood speaks for me.”

So today:

  • When you pray, plead the blood.
  • When you’re afraid, plead the blood.
  • When you don’t know what to do, plead the blood.

Because there’s nothing stronger.
Nothing higher.
Nothing more final.

Closing Prayer

Father, we thank You for the blood of Jesus. Thank You that it protects us, redeems us, and gives us victory. We plead the blood over our homes, our hearts, and our lives. Let no weapon formed against us prosper. Let every accusation fall. And let Your power be made perfect in us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
