Kindness : Fruit Of The Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23
*Text: Galatians 5:22-23** —
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
- Ephesians 4:32 —
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Introduction
Kindness is often seen as something soft, small, and optional. But in God’s eyes, kindness is powerful.
It is a fruit of a Spirit-filled life. It’s not a personality trait — it’s a spiritual signpost that the Holy Spirit is alive and active in your heart.
1. What is Kindness?
- Kindness is love in action.
- It’s not just feeling good toward others — it’s doing good for others.
- True kindness is generous, forgiving, patient, and proactive.
- It’s compassion that moves — compassion that crosses the street, picks up the fallen, and stands up for the weak.

Imagine a fruit tree. You don’t have to force a healthy tree to bear fruit — it happens naturally.
In the same way, when we are rooted in Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit, kindness grows naturally from our lives.
2. Jesus: The Perfect Example of Kindness
- Jesus showed kindness to the rejected, the broken, the outcast, the sinner.
- He didn’t rush past the hurting, He stopped. He listened. He touched the untouchable.
- Luke 6:35 — “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.”
- Kindness for Jesus wasn’t based on how people treated Him — it was based on who He was.
- Our kindness must flow from the same source — the Holy Spirit in us.
3. Kindness is Stronger Than You Think
- Kindness is not weakness, it takes strength to be kind when you are hurt, insulted, or overlooked.
- Kindness is a spiritual weapon — it disarms anger, melts hard hearts, and opens doors to the gospel.
- Proverbs 15:1 — “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
- In a world where cruelty is loud, kindness shines like a bright light.

One kind word can echo longer than a thousand arguments.
A gentle act can heal a heart broken by years of harshness.
Never underestimate what a simple kindness can do!
4. How Do We Grow in Kindness?
- Stay connected to Jesus — kindness is a fruit of His Spirit, not human effort.
- Choose kindness daily — even when it’s inconvenient.
- Pray for a kind heart — ask the Holy Spirit to make you more like Christ.
- Practice kindness intentionally — in your home, at work, at church, even with strangers.
5. Kindness That Changes the World
- You may not preach a sermon to thousands.
- You may not travel across oceans.
- But every day, with simple acts of kindness, you preach the love of Christ louder than any words ever could.
- Kindness is evangelism. Kindness is worship. Kindness is powerful.
Conclusion
A Spirit-filled life is a kind life.
Not because it’s easy, but because it’s Christ in us.
Today, let’s be people whose kindness reveals the love of God to a broken world — one word, one smile, one gentle act at a time.
Closing Prayer
“Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your kindness toward us — kindness that rescued us when we didn’t deserve it.
Fill our hearts with Your Spirit, so that kindness would grow in us and flow through us.
Help us to be Your hands and feet, bringing healing to a hurting world.
In Your precious name we pray, Amen.”
