Jesus Christ: The Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever

Text: Hebrews 13:8 - “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Introduction

In a world that is constantly changing—where people, circumstances, and even our own emotions shift—there is one constant: Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus never changes. His character, His love, and His promises remain the same. Today, we will explore three powerful truths about Christ’s unchanging nature:

• Jesus Was the Same in the Past
• Jesus Is the Same Today
• Jesus Will Be the Same Forever

I. Jesus Was the Same in the Past

From the very beginning, Jesus was present and working in history.

• He existed before time began - John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
• He was faithful to the people of Israel - Throughout the Old Testament, God’s people saw His power, provision, and promises fulfilled.
• He came to earth to save us - Jesus’ mission never changed: to bring salvation (Luke 19:10).

Reflection: The same Jesus who worked miracles, forgave sinners, and loved the broken in the past is the same Jesus we serve today.

II. Jesus Is the Same Today

Even now, Jesus continues to work in our lives.

• He is still our Savior - His sacrifice on the cross still has power to cleanse us from sin (1 John 1:9).
• He still performs miracles - He heals, provides, and restores lives just as He did in the Bible.
• He is always present - Jesus promised, “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).

Reflection: Are you trusting Jesus today, knowing that He is the same God who was faithful in the past?

III. Jesus Will Be the Same Forever

The future is uncertain, but Jesus will never change.

• His promises will never fail - What He said thousands of years ago still stands today (Numbers 23:19).
• He will return for His people - Just as He promised, Jesus will come again (John 14:3).
• He will reign forever - His kingdom has no end (Revelation 11:15).

Reflection: Because Jesus is unchanging, we can have confidence in His promises and face the future with hope.

Conclusion

Hebrews 13:8 reminds us of the unchanging nature of Jesus Christ:

• He was the same in the past—faithful and powerful.
• He is the same today—present and working in our lives.
• He will be the same forever—our eternal King and Savior.
