Don’t Forget — God’s Been Good!
Psalm 103:2
Scripture:
Psalm 103:2 (NIV)
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
⸻
Introduction:
Have you ever been so caught up in what’s going wrong, that you forget everything God’s already done right?
Life has a way of making us focus on problems — but today, God’s Word calls us to pause, look back, and remember His goodness.
If you woke up this morning, if you’re still breathing, if you’ve made it through storms you thought would break you — God’s been good to you.
⸻
Point 1: God’s Goodness Is Proven in the Past
David said, “Forget not all His benefits.”
Why? Because when you remember what God has done, it builds your faith for what He will do.
- He brought you through tough seasons.
- He answered prayers you almost gave up on.
- He opened doors you didn’t deserve.
Psalm 77:11 (NIV)
“I will remember the deeds of the Lord, yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”
When you look back, you realize — God has never failed you yet.
⸻
Point 2: God’s Goodness Is Present in the Now
Sometimes we think goodness is only in big miracles, but God’s goodness is in:
- Waking up this morning.
- Food on the table.
- Friends and family who care.
- Strength to face another day.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.”
Even in your current struggles, God is good — right now.
If you look closely, you’ll see His fingerprints all over your life.
⸻
Point 3: God’s Goodness Will Follow You in the Future
Goodness isn’t just something God did, it’s something He’s still doing and will keep doing.
Psalm 23:6 (NIV)
“Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.”
That means:
- Goodness is chasing you.
- Mercy is tracking you down.
- Blessings are ahead, even if you can’t see them yet.
When you remember His goodness, you can face the future with hope.
⸻
Conclusion:
Don’t let hard days make you forget how good God has been.
Remember when He made a way?
Remember when He healed your heart?
Remember when He provided just in time?
He’s the same God now — and He’ll be the same tomorrow.
So let’s do what David said:
Praise the Lord, and forget not all His benefits!
⸻
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your goodness. Help us to remember every blessing, every answered prayer, every door You’ve opened. Strengthen our hearts with gratitude, and let us never forget how faithful You’ve been. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
