A Vision of Glory

Daniel 10:5

Key Text:

“But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I remained there with the kings of Persia.” - Daniel 10:13

Introduction

Daniel 10:13 reveals a powerful truth about spiritual warfare—there are unseen battles happening in the spiritual realm that affect events on earth. Daniel had been praying and fasting for 21 days, but the answer was delayed because of a spiritual conflict.

This passage teaches us three key lessons:

  1. Spiritual warfare is real.
  2. Prayer influences the spiritual battle.
  3. God is in control and sends help to His people.

1. Spiritual Warfare is Real

  • The “prince of the kingdom of Persia” was not a human ruler but a demonic force assigned to Persia.
  • This shows that demonic powers seek to influence nations and resist God’s purposes.
  • Ephesians 6:12 - “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Just as there was a spiritual battle over Persia, there are battles over nations, churches, families, and individual lives today.

2. Prayer Influences the Spiritual Battle

  • Daniel persisted in prayer for 21 days before the angel broke through with the answer.
  • The angel was delayed because of this spiritual resistance.
  • Daniel 10:12 - The angel told Daniel, “From the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand… thy words were heard.”

Even though Daniel didn’t see immediate results, his prayers were working in the unseen realm.

  • Luke 18:1 - “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”
  • James 5:16 - “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Sometimes we feel like our prayers are delayed, but God is working behind the scenes.

3. God is in Control and Sends Help to His People

  • Michael, the archangel, came to help.
  • Michael is described as a warrior angel who defends God’s people (Revelation 12:7, Jude 1:9).
  • This shows that God does not leave His people defenseless—He sends angelic help when needed.

Though the enemy fights to delay answers, God always prevails.

Conclusion

  • Spiritual battles are real, but God fights for us.
  • Prayer is powerful, and persistence brings breakthrough.
  • God is always in control and will send help when we need it.

No matter what opposition you face, keep praying, keep believing, and trust that God is working behind the scenes.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us that our battles are not just physical but spiritual. Strengthen us to pray persistently and trust in Your power. Send help where we need it and remind us that You are in control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
