Way Maker – Trusting God to Make a Way

Isaiah 43:16

Scripture: Isaiah 43:16 “This is what the Lord says—he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters… See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Introduction

One of the most powerful worship songs of our time is Way Maker.
It declares that God is our Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, and Light in the Darkness.
These are not just lyrics, they are biblical truths that we can stand on in every season of life.

Today, we will explore how God is:

  1. The Way Maker - He makes a way where there is no way.
  2. The Miracle Worker - He does what is impossible for man.
  3. The Promise Keeper - He is faithful to His Word.
  4. The Light in the Darkness - He shines in our darkest moments.

1. God is the Way Maker

Isaiah 43:16 reminds us that God makes a way through impossible situations,
just as He did for Israel at the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21-22).

  • When the Israelites were trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the sea, God made a way.
  • When there seemed to be no path forward, God created one.
  • In our lives, God can make a way where there is no way—whether it’s in our finances, relationships, or spiritual journey.

No matter how impossible things seem, God is still our Way Maker!

2. God is the Miracle Worker

Jeremiah 32:27 - “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”

  • Jesus performed miracles—healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding the multitudes.
  • Even today, God is still working miracles in our lives.
  • The very fact that we are alive and saved by grace is a miracle!

When we feel stuck, we must remember: God is not limited by our circumstances. He is the Miracle Worker!

3. God is the Promise Keeper

Numbers 23:19 - “God is not a man, that he should lie… Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”

  • Abraham and Sarah received their promised child, Isaac, despite their old age.
  • Joseph waited years, but God fulfilled His promise to elevate him.
  • Jesus is the ultimate promise fulfilled—the Savior of the world.

If God has spoken a promise over your life, He will bring it to pass. He is the Promise Keeper!

4. God is the Light in the Darkness

John 8:12 - “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

  • When life feels dark, Jesus is our light.
  • When we don’t see the next step, He guides us.
  • Even in our struggles, He is present and leading us forward.

No matter how deep the darkness, God’s light can never be overcome!

Conclusion: Trust in the Way Maker

The song Way Maker is more than just words—it is a declaration of faith.
When you sing it, you are proclaiming:

  • God is making a way even when I don’t see it.
  • God is working miracles even when I don’t feel it.
  • God is keeping His promises even when I have doubts.
  • God is my light even in the darkest season.

Are you trusting the Way Maker today?
Surrender your worries to Him and believe that He is already making a way for you.

Closing Prayer

Father, we thank You for being our Way Maker.
Even when we don’t see a way, we trust that You are working behind the scenes.
Strengthen our faith, remind us of Your promises, and shine Your light in our lives.
We give You all the glory and praise.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
